Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What is Steady Buckets?

Steady Buckets is an innovative basketball, physical fitness, and life skills development program for boys and girls ages 5-18 in the greater NYC area. Our objective is to develop hard working, resilient, empathetic, and confident individuals who will make positive contributions to their communities.

Q2: Where can I register?

Whether you are new to SB or a returning player, it is important that everyone register once a year. Registration provides us with important information about our players, including health issues and emergency contacts, as well as including all registrants under our insurance. The information is also used to obtain additional funding.

The link to register is can be found under the register tab or here!

FYI: The ‘U’ after the number (i.e. 6U), stands for ‘and under.’ The different age groups are 6U (6 and under), 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U/16U/18U.

We also have a Girls Only program. Our Girls Only program practices in the same space as co-ed groups during our regular workouts, but with only female participants. Our Girls Only league program at 75 Morton Street is for girls ages 9 and up. The girls workout and play competitive games at this location.

Q3: Where can I find the workout calendar?

The Steady Buckets calendar is regularly updated. It can also be found using this link: http://www.steadybuckets.org/sb-calendar. The calendar provides the age, time, and location for each practice.

Q4: What is AYBL and where can I find the AYBL schedule?

AYBL stands for our All Youth Basketball League. This is a Steady Buckets internal league in which our youth play against each other in friendly, competitive games. We have three seasons every year. To play in one of our leagues, youth must attend an evaluation day, announced before the start of season. The schedule for the current season can be found here:

Q5: What is the YLP program and how can I be a part of it?

Our Young Leaders Program is for our most skilled and committed players. All players are asked to tryout, but players are selected for the program based on skill level, commitment level to the team, and community service hours that all players will be expected to perform. We have 6 teams: 12U Girls, 12U Boys, 15U Girls, 15U Boys, 17U Girls, and 17U Boys.
